MISSING IN ACTION: The early medical reports have Cronulla’s Origin duo Paul Gallen and Todd Carney – along with NSW and Roosters half Mitchell Pearce – all backing up. Although it must be said Gallen was walking very gingerly after the Blues loss, perhaps more in disappointment than pain. Backrower Jeremy Smith won’t be there for Cronulla after accepting a one-match ban for striking but Wade Graham will play after escaping censure for the same offence. Centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall is back for the Chooks.
FORM: Cronulla have done well to get through the Origin period relatively unscathed. One of only three clubs not to receive a bye before any of the three Origins, the Sharks managed two wins without Carney and Gallen. They are on a roll of three straight victories. The Roosters have lost five of their last six to disappear from finals view. They were embarrassing last start against Manly and will surely be better here. Cronulla have won three of the last four between the clubs but are 23-15 behind (with one draw) in overall games played at Shark Park.
